What happened: Season 2 of NBA 2K27 went live today, October 16, headlined by Tyrese Haliburton and Caitlin Clark. The headliner feature is GOAT Builds — 18 total recreations of NBA legends and stars that break the standard attribute and physical caps of the MyPLAYER Builder.
GOAT Builds: 8 available immediately through the builder path (Penny Hardaway, Gilbert Arenas, Klay Thompson, Carmelo Anthony, Andrei Kirilenko, Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard). 3 unlock via the Season 2 rewards track (Magic Johnson at 26, Dirk Nowitzki at 33, Kobe Bryant at 37). 5 via REP (Ray Allen and Hakeem Olajuwon at Elite V, Derrick Rose and Michael Jordan at Elite VIII, LeBron James at Legend I). 2 via Lifetime Challenges (Anthony Edwards at 300, Wilt Chamberlain at 350). The hook: builds can exceed normal limits — 2K’s example is a guard with elite playmaking at a size past the 6’7” Create-Your-Own PG height cap. Signature animations are locked per player; badges, cap breakers, and takeovers stay customizable.
The rewards math: the Level 40 track runs Diamond Jason Kidd (Level 1) to a +1 Cap Breaker (Level 40). Notable stops: 18 (4-person golf cart), 20 (Pacers mascot ‘Boomer’), 26 (Magic GOAT Build), 33 (Dirk GOAT Build), 37 (Kobe GOAT Build), 39 (Clown Costume: Ankle Taker), 40 (+1 Cap Breaker). Four synergy badge slots (7/15/25/35), two bonus badge slots (11/31), two bonus badge tokens (16/36).
MyTEAM: the Season 2 Premier Exchange card is Pixel Cut Kareem Abdul-Jabbar — 11-time All-Defensive, 4-time blocks leader, 6 championships. Season rewards: Diamond Jason Kidd (1), Pink Diamond Obi Toppin (10), Galaxy Opal Roy Hibbert (20), Diamond Coach Joe Mazzulla (28), Pixel Cut Karl-Anthony Towns (40).
Crew Divisions: double Crew XP on the rewards track plus a 25% REP boost on all Crew Division games. Crew HQ difficulty dropped to REC-level; the Squad Showdown kiosk keeps competitive sliders for private matches.
The City: Sunset Beach returns, remastered from 2K17. American Express takes over The Theater October 16–18 — the first 200,000 players to play 3 games get custom Amex apparel (US only).
Also: patch 2.0 is live on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, hitting Switch 2 and PC just ahead of Season 2. The game is now on the Windows PC Store, and a digital Xbox purchase includes the Windows PC copy free (and vice versa).
